One baby was strapped on my back while another crawled around in the playpen. I worked 12 hour days, for months, sanding and stripping wallpaper while carrying one kid. Ha! The house was getting closer to finishing, but the project was still a distance to go. For furnishing the space, it was going to take a lot of effort both in time and money. I would also have go to my favorite stores. For my budget to remain in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for bargains at estate sales. Every week, we spent Thursday to Saturday at garage sales and estate sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. In the end, I painted and sanded the driveway in the week. The furniture was like this... and that's where I found my love for restoration. No matter what, the house was already furnished. I had a stand at the local market and sold pieces there. I eventually had lots of pieces, I didn't think of a solution and outgrew the space. Open houses were held at my residence where 1 000 visitors would pass through over a weekend, and visitors could buy anything from the first floor. Growing Days was founded in my house. As my business flourished and so did our small family. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business as well as being a mom. Growing Days fit perfectly. In 2013, my beautiful daughter Nora joined our 4th kiddo. My company was doing well however I needed a break. I decided to slow down to spend time at home, with my family. It was exactly what I needed at the time. However, after just a couple of minutes the phone started getting busy. I was getting calls from people asking for help with decorating their homes and interior remodeling. The majority of them were those who had walked through my home during the furniture open houses! I began taking on clients at a time taking my time however it wasn't for long to have several accounts, and I was operating the complete business of home remodeling. If you'd said to me that this company of mine could become the premise of a tv show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have thought you were crazy. It's fun to reflect to the idea.
